Many “congratulations” to our Jr. and Sr. Company dancers for their wonderful performances at the recent StarQuest Dance Competition held at PPAC!  Special “congrats” to our Jr. Company jazz students who won a “First” place trophy and special judges’ award-“Shake It!”-for their “Teach Me How to Shimmy” routine!  Our Sr. Company received a High Gold award for their jazz routine-“Material Girl”

We were most proud of our Pre Company dancers at the Seekonk “Shooting Stars” Talent Showcase. They received a Platinum award for their very First competition-and a special judges’ award-“Dynamic Duo”! Our Jr. Company dancers received a High Gold award as well as a special judges’ award-“Hairography”!

UPCOMING EVENTS:

Please come and support our company dancers at the IDC competition to be held the week-end of April 27^th and 28^th at the Vet’s Auditorium in Providence.  Our “Sophisticated Ladies” will also be performing in the jazz and tap adult division. The exact time schedule will be posted in the waiting room one week prior to the event. Our last competition- Dance X-Plosion- will be held at the East Providence High School on May 31^st-June 2^nd.  These events are FREE-so try to attend and show your “Studio spirit”!!

* National Dance Week: April 29^th-May 4th

*Bring a Friend Free Day- & Wear Whatever you Want Day! Will be held during the week of April 29^th-May 4th. Each student may bring up to 3 friends. New friends must “sign in” at the door before class.  Please use good sense when choosing your outfit. It should be something you can move and dance well in. Have fun!

*Coloring  and Poster Contests: Coloring contest for ages 3-7- We will supply a beautiful “dance” picture for you to color! Posters for students age-8-12   should be no smaller than 8” by 10” –No larger than a regular poster board. This poster should express the student’s love for dance. Bright colors, a title, and neatness count. Please put your name and age on the back. You may use any art supplies to decorate your poster. Posters and picture must be into the studio by May 18^th. Prizes awarded in June. Good luck & have fun!    

 Adult Night!: *Did you know that Ms. Jo-Ann is also a certified ZUMBA instructor? We are offering $5 ZUMBA and $5 Stretch and Tone” classes to all studio parents for the month of May! Our gift  to you in honor of National Dance Week. “Ditch the workout and join the party” with ZUMBA- our “latin” dance fitness class!  Enjoy a great “Stretch & Tone”- our “spa” like class that will shape you  up for summer!!  (Wear comfortable clothing.)

ZUMBA-6:45-7:30 P.M. and “Stretch & Tone” 7:30-8:15 P.M. *Remember 20% discount for dance/ fitness classes if your child dances here! Summer hours may change.*(Remember- no membership fee here at Riverside Dance!)

*Memorial Day Parade!!- Our studio will be marching in the E.P. Memorial Day parade to be held on Mon. May 27th . We have a truck this year!!  Students must sign up at the desk no later than May 18th. We will meet at Oldham school at 9:15 a.m. sharp. Please wear a recent costume or one of our “new” Studio T-shirts! Parents are welcome to march with us –but must wear a studio shirt.  Bring water that you can keep in the truck. (Label with your name). Please be sure your hair is neat. Any patriotic, red, white, blue ribbons in hair would be appreciated!  Parents should pick up students promptly at the American Legion at the end of the parade. Please join us and show your studio spirit! 

Early Fall Registration- Save 20% on fall registration if you register by June16th.  Trophies and medals for perfect attendance will be given on your last class.  (Classes end on Thursday-June 20^th)

Awards Banquet: Tickets for our 2013 Awards Banquet (June 23^rd-Sunday at noon) at the DeParma Italian Restaurant, will be on sale mid-May. Each class will have the opportunity to perform at least one routine. A luncheon buffet will follow, and we will end the day with presenting 5,7,10, and 15 year trophies to those well deserving students! Our “Most Improved” student plaque will be presented to that dedicated dancer!  This is always a great time to socialize and get to know your “studio family”- and to enjoy your child’s dance progress! So invite the grand parents, aunties, and friends!

Everyone who attends will need to purchase a ticket. Ticket prices and food details will be posted in the waiting room.  Happy Spring!!
